Robben Island
Robben Island The island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has served as a whaling station, a leper colony, and most notably as a prison, where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years of his 27-year incarceration before being instated president. As there are only limited ferries to the island per day, it is highly suggested to book in advance. Tour is 4 hours, including 40-minute each way return ferry trip, bus tour around the island & walk through prison with ex-offender.
